The 1,250-acre Novazone Industrial Park is connected to continental road and rail systems, is located a few kilometres outside Sydney, about halfway between the site of the proposed container terminal and a bypass that leads to the Trans-Canada Highway.
Two hundred and fifty acres of the proposed site are owned by the Mi’kmaq. At the sod turning ceremony, Membertou Chief Terry Paul stated, “As we stand upon this ground, territory of our Mi’kmaq peoples, I’m happy to announce that we are on the future site of NOVAZONE™, a new logistics park.”
The park is an essential asset as NOVAPORTE™ works to develop a container terminal. For shippers, NOVAZONE™ means there will be capacity to move cargo through the Port.
NOVAZONE™ Logistics Park will be a free-trade zone, whereby companies can ship goods into Sydney without tax, assemble them and ship them on to their final location.
